Laura Linney is an American actor, who became famous for her portrayal of strong but vulnerable characters. Her father was a celebrated writer, however she was raised as an only child by a single mom, a nurse. Through the summer months, while with her dad Linney discovered a love for the theatre. Her first stage experience was first through Brown University then at Juilliard School. Her career began on Broadway following her graduation, she appeared in film within two years. She also appeared on TV within a year. Over the past few years she's been in many TV productions, films as well as stage productions. There have been numerous awards throughout her career. They include four Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, three Academy Award Nominations, and five Tony Award Nominations. The actress has received nominations for five Tony Awards, and three Oscar Awards nominations. In spite of all the awards and accolades, the stage is where she's at and she will continue to play on stage and screen.
